Friday 6/29 is "Drive Your Corvette to Work Day"
This Friday, June 29th, is the 7th annual Drive Your Corvette to Work Day, as declared by Mid America Motorworks, a supplier of aftermarket parts and accessories for Corvettes and air-cooled Volkswagens.
According to Mike Yager, founder of Mid America Motorworks, "...many owners consider their Corvette to be a special car and only drive it occasionally. But we think driving your Corvette to work, at least one day a year, is an excellent way to demonstrate just how popular Corvettes are."
Our last two Corvette test drives have involved the 2006 Corvette Z06 and 2006 Corvette convertible -- and yeah, I'd love to drive either one of 'em to work. Unfortunately I work from home, and I don't think either Corvette would be able to squeeze through the hallway.
Actually, most of the Corvette owners I know do drive their cars on a regular basis, which is good; cars are meant to be enjoyed, not to sit in a garage gathering dust. Mid America Motorworks is encouraging Corvette owners who participate in Drive Your Corvette to Work Day to send photos to clubs@mamotorworks.com for inclusion on their Web site.
Now if someone will just declare a Drive Your Beat Up Old Honda CRX to Work Day, I'll be all set... unlike the Corvette, I think my CRX actually will fit through the hallway! -- Aaron Gold
