Pretty sweet, but Mercedes has been doing this for a long time. In fact, for some of the more unique Mercedes if there is a part that is not available MB will make it if you can do a group buy.

Really? The Pagodas and their ilk tend to get favored-son status. Did you check with the Classic Center in CA? Though, they do have a way of ending parts that they consider to be plentiful and in acceptable condition at junkyards. They've also been messing up part number changes lately (let's just say it isn't the company it was 20 years ago, but still it's quite good about this)

Oh wonderful. I just spent $4,000 on aftermarket poorly fitting restoration parts for my 1970 Bronco last month

Excellent support of the parts industry, suppliers, and enthusiasts. Even better for junk yard guys who may lose initially on some body parts, but with more restorations starting, should be a boon for them as well.

Very cool, searching and digging around junkyards for good condition parts is never something I've found fun. Not that this would actually help me personally at the moment, but it's a good step that I'd like to see other manufacturers taking.
