Default Exhaust on Automatics?

Can exhausts sound good on automatic cars? I've heard they drone a lot and I don't want it to sound shitty but I'd really like to mod my cars exhaust system.

Well if you say it doesn't depend on the tranny how about on a 98' Eclipse GS. Only thing done to it is ebay ram air.

exhaust will sound the same on your eclipse no matter what tranny it is. its just the between shift dif.
