Default Epic Road Trip

Hello Gays,
I have been toying with the idea of taking an epic road trip. A lap across the country. I wanna stop at local little mom and pop restaurants, see things like the Grand Canyon, and stop at every 35 foot tall fiberglass dinosaur or UFO museum i pass on the side of the road. Anyway, I was just thinking ......what would be a good vehicle for said adventure?

- It would have to be affordable probably well say 8k or less, be made ready to drive cross country and back for say 2k more or so
-Gonna have to be able to enjoy the drive (remember this is going to be about the trip, not the destination)

So far Im thinking some older big American convertible could be cool, or maby a Vanagon or something lol.

What vehicle would you guys use for cross country adventures?

Yea I actually have a Wrangler it would be good for it, specially if I pull out the back seat. I was sketching on a napkin at dinner last night a tent that would fit in the back with a floor that would stick out a little bit so you could sleep stretched out in the back, and then fold it all up in to the Jeep in the morning, close the tailgate and move on.

jeep would be idea. you could take trails if you need to, or other things. not to mention you can take the doors off and roof off and enjoy the wind. i think it would be ideal to take cross country. i just don't know how comfortable one is as i have never driven one.

Anyone else notice this?

Take a minivan. You can sleep in it and have room for all of your things. Most are 6 cylinders so you will get decent gas mileage. One vehicle I wouldn't take is a jeep. That's just me though. Holla gays! And good luck.
