Default Epic Repost from LS1TECH Forums

Hey all, long time reader, had to post this one I read over at another forum, enjoy:

This guy had one of 6 Pontiac Tempest racers ever built from the factory and didn't even know it! He listed it online starting at $500 and within 7 days the auction had exploded to $226,000! The auction is over now, but you HAVE to see this piece of crap, it's almost unbelievable!

Check out the bidding history, and note that the high bidder has 1000+ positive feedback, this is legit.. Damn I wish I could be this lucky.

I saw that on Autoblog a few days ago. I think the ending price was insane. $226k is a lot of money for 1960s automotive engineering and manufacturing quality.
I'm glad someone can enjoy it for that price though. It's probably about $225k more than I would be willing to pay for it.

It didn't bring that price because of the 60's era engineering and manufacturing. It brought that price because it was 1 of 6 made and it was the fastest drag car in 1963. The guy paid to own a piece of history, not for 60's era performance.

I wonder how long before it goes across Barret Jackson auction block fullly restored...

Interesting. That must be an incredible feeling, go to bed hoping to make a grand and wake up with a cool quarter mill.

Wow. I know it's a piece of history, but to pay that much for a car in that bad of a condition seems crazy to me. Hope the guy at least restores it.
