Default Easiest Swap for 91 crx dx?

I'm looking to swap a engine with a little more power into my 91 crx dx(D15). Was wondering what is the easiest and cheapest swap? If I went DOHC ZC could I use my stock: Transmission, Motor mounts and wiring harness? Any help will be appreciated.

DOHC ZC's are a waste of time. Parts aren't too common to find for it, plus the cam sensor is ugly as fuck. ha

If you are looking to stay D-series, I'd say find a 97 EX/Si transmission -steel shift forks-, convert to Hydro (about 80% of the cable transmissions your going to find will grind, pop out of gear or just plain SUCK.) The cable to hydro conversion is CHEAP, it is like $150 skrillaz. Def worth it.

I'd say go with a D16z6 and get a D16y8 Intake manifold (best flowing stock intake mani). I don't know what your plans for the car are, but if your going to boost on a stock motor. Might as well go ahead and get a headgasket and headstuds. D-series headstuds stretch easily and the head will lift and throw a gasket.

We need more information on what you plan to do with the car.

Im not for sure yet. I was trying to get some info on what other people think would be money well spent without going overboard and spending too much. My car has 245,000 miles on it now so it's safe to say I should be thinking about a new engine soon. I was told you could use stock trans with DOHC ZC and you sould convert wiring harness Thats the only reason I was throwing that out there.

Your going to have to convert from DPFI to Multiport if you plan on doing any kind of modification.

but, the DOHC ZC is garbage. They love boost/nitrous though. But you can fully build a single cam for less than 1k. Vitara build ftw<3
