my point was that if you look around and notice who the people are that complain about "reliability" of certain cars (DSMs, domestics, etc) it's usually the guys with weakass 14 and 15 second cars and slower talking about the "unreliability" of everything else... if you want to go fast, you need power, and more power will ALWAYS mean more maintainance is required.
You can mostly tell how the car was taken care of by look on the inside. If the inside of the car still looks nice the person went over the trouble of try to keep the car nice. and most like was a person how did maintance to the car. Ask for vin and do a car fax.

I've got 158,000 miles on my 90 and it's been in the 12's for the last couple years reliably as well as regular autocross's. Reliability isn't a problem until you start pushing the edge and you don't know what you are doing..
What to look for? Stay away from the 90's. They are the odd ball year. some of the electronics in them ONLY work on 90's (ECU, ignition).
If you really feel like searching, look for the "magic" 92's. They have the strong motor with the 6bolt bottom end and the stronger 4bolt rear end. Not all 92's are like that, hence why I call it the magic one.

Every reliability issue I have or had or will have is self inflicted and by no means the car. The trans blow up because I did somthing stupid. As long as you take care of it you should not have any problems with the car . They just need more love than most cars .
