Supposedly the next generation is coming out in 2012, it's going to be modeled by the designers of Maserati and Ferrari.

Chrystler couldn't get it sold... apparently Saleen and a few others were interested in it as a brand. The article I read says 2010 will be the last year of the GenIV motor cars and an all new car will be coming out for 2012.

Rumors are that it will be more livable and have a hemi powerplant... so basically a Dodge Corvette w/ more aggressive styling. Allthought GM just confirmed the C7 will have a spit-window

From a business POV it makes great sense... the Viper really isn't a halo car anymore... it doesn't draw people to buy other cars Chrystler makes, and they loose money on it. GM makes money on the Corvette... lots of it. If they can refine the Viper into something truly drivable then they can truly compete w/ Corvette in terms of sales volume and actually make money... assuming the economy eventually comes back.

From an auto enthusiast POV it's sad.... Viper is a muscle car... and w/o a V10 it just won't be the same. Maybe they'll find a way to put in a smaller audi-type V10... who knows.

Way to go Dodge, PLEASE continue making your shitbox Nitros and Calibers that no one buys anymore.

I hate to see any company kill off an enthusiast car.

A good example of them trying to lean away from the not so friendly DD to more comfortable DD is when they switched body styles and added floor vents. One complaint about the older vipers were no floor vents to suppress the heat from tunnel.

I really hope Viper sticks around. It's basically an American exotic. I put the Viper in the category of Ford GT, not Corvette. It'd be too much to ask for them to come out with something totally new and comparable to the Corvette or even Camaro. Then again... I'd hate to see another Prowler

...and there is no "t" in Chrysler
