i remember seeing in japan there was this electronic cut off valve for the piping of mufflers. not sure if thats a proper way of saying it. but its like u can control how much air goes through the muffler with a turn of a dial inside your car. it allows you to open the valve all the way and the flow of air will be redirected so that there wont be any sound/air going through your mufflers. instead it is through that valve. i forgot what brand it was. i think it was jic magic.

 

Apexi also has a system similar to that, Im not sure if it actually ever came out in the states, but a valve in the muffler adjusted it from quiet city street driving, to full open exhaust by using exhaust gas pressure.
