whats the best way to easily clean under the hood? i know those "engine cleaner" settings at the car wash are b.s

go to the parts store and get engine brit or gunk or something...greased lightning works good too, they have a shop one that works really good on grease and stuff

engine brite or gunk or what ever works well with grease and build up but does nothing for dirt. i tried that on my car after i had some fun in the mud, and it looked the same. all the grease and stuff was gone though. any suggestions?

Default Cleaning engines

Gunk engine cleaner works well with moderate amounts of dirt and dust, if there's any heavy dirt you're going to want to use a tooth brush with that. CD-2 Engine detailer works great for finishing touches.

hmm....well right now i could eat off my engine if i wanted to. i just want to find a quick way to give it a lil clean everyonce ina while

Just use some simple green or any kind of all purpose cleaner a little diluted.
Cover your intake and coil and any other exposed wiring.
If you use some CD-2 detailer, the next time you clean your engine will be much easier and quicker.
You can even use some original Armor-All for a detailer.

purple power leaves a nasty white residue but does eat grease fairly well id use simple green over that for nasty areas

Simple Green and a soft toothbrush worked really well when I detailed my 300zx engine, just gotta let the simple green soak in a bit.
