Civiv SI?

Civic SI?
I have a 2001 Z28 right now but I need to get rid of it. I got a reckless ticket and my insurance went up to $400 a month. I was thinking of getting a 2000 SI. I know it's a huge difference in type of performance but it's to expensive to drive a camaro. Are these cars any good? I'm looking to spend about 12-13k on a new car. Any help would be great.

Re: Civiv SI?
honestly, you might wanna call your insurance company about the SI as well. I bet its not much more than your Z28.
to answer your question though... the SI is a great car. very reliable, tons of fun to drive and everything under the sun as far as aftermarket. boostfed is making almost 800 horsepower in his SI. overall Id say there one of the best tuner cars ever made. that might just be an opinion though

Also if your looking for speed and cheap insurence you could get a 92-95 civic(hatch would be best) and put a K24 in there and run somewere in the high 12's to low 13's on street tires.
and heres how http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1274311

civic will cost almost the same as the z28, thank the high theft rates i suggest buying a 500 dollar car to get a 2 car discout on you insurance and finding a cheaper company.
good luck, and dont sell the z28, youll regret it.

Re: Civiv SI?
ok your going from a tq car to a tqless wonder...
civic si's just plain suck. b16a's have no tq whats so ever. I do not like driven honda's I went from a 300zx Twin turbo to a civic si hatch that I swapped a b16a in (same motor in a civic Si) and I put a turbo on it and it ran good but it just wasnt a rwd+tq+hp car. There is nothing like rwd with some power and tq. You will regret buying a honda once you have owned anything with a lil bit of power and rwd. this is why I sold my hatch and now am buying another 300zxTT. if you got that much money buy a 95+ Nissan 240sx and put a turbo kit on the KA motor there for you have some tq and some good hp numbers (motor is made for the nissan truck but nissan decided to screw us over with the sr20det and put the truck motor in our 240sx insted) that will give you a fun rwd car with enough power to get you by along with cheap insurance compared to your camaro plus your insurance company wouldnt have to know its turbo :-)
I wish you luck but do your self a favor. stay away from fwd thats just my .02
