Default Civil Remedial Fees demise

Let's hope these burdonsom, and constitutional violations are repealed. Though it won't take effect till July 1st, and the question of refunding thoes who have paid is still questioned by democrats on the board. Fairfax alone has assesed $13 Million in fees with $4.8 million collected as of December 31st. Currently, I'm faced with paying a $900 civil remedial fee under one of Virginias many statues, this one being 46.2-206.1 that took current action, with many residents refusing payment (leading to a revoked licence and warrant for arrest) while others write their congress men to support a bill of repeal. These fees are commonly x2 or even x3 the original violation fee. Personally I think these fees are rediculous, and a far-fetched cost to the common resident. Has any one else been faced with these fees? Whats your opinion? Do you support them being repealed or modified in any way?

I think you may mean "Unconstitutional"? They get around that by calling them fees in-lieu-of fines. But yes, they need to go in the circle file. The city of Newport News has actually debated on asking the GA and the Gov. to repeal the Hampton Roads Transit Authority along with repeal of the fees. I'm not sure where what decision was made.

I don't have a problem with these fines.

Why? You may ask?

Because I don't speed!

Why don't I speed? Because if I got one of these fines, I'd either 1) run. or 2) have to sell my car in order to pay them, hence why I would rather 1) run. BUT, I don't want to run, either, as for that can cause more severe consequences.

My solution: Don't speed!

Ohhh giggity.
