changin oil in civic question
Alright...flame on for this question...but...its righty tighty, lefty loosey right?
Lol...so when im trying to loosen the oil drain...i should be turning the wrench towards the passenger wheel right? Or do i have it mixed up in my head. And...whats a good solution in getting off the bolt when a shop wrenches that shit in there TIGHT? would like...WD-40 work or anything like that? |
Re: changin oil in civic question
yes, push the wrench towards the passenger side.
your bolt prob isnt stuck, try to find a longer wrench. but if you need to, wd40 wont hurt anything. |
Re: changin oil in civic question
the bolt should turn towards the rear of the car. I think your car is doing it wrong :dunno:
:D |

Re: changin oil in civic question
the thread is stripped or the head is? if the head is stripped there are special sockets and such that can alleviate the problem. if you're beyond that drill that bitch out.

Re: changin oil in civic question
They make several sockets designed to grab stripped bolts, try one of them first. If that doesn't work I would weld a new nut to the old drain plug. Then use a box end wrench or a socket to turn the bolt out. HEY ITS COUNTERCLOCK WISE TO LOOSEN and CLOCKWISE TO TIGHTEN!!!!!

i say just drop your oil pan and replace it from a junkyard, won';t be too hard.

Re: changin oil in civic question
if the bolt is stripped too bad you can either pull the pan or take a pair of vice grips an remove it. For future reference, if you don't know how to remove something or do something, don't do it.
