Default carbon fiber hood fade

the hood i have is fading quite a bit, not sure if its due to the recent downpours of rain or if its just the quality of the carbon fiber, but the hood is very cloudy and begining to look faded. can i just buff this out or wet-sand or what? any help is appreciated.

you can wetsand it and re-buff and it should be ok for a while. The reason why carbon hoods fade is not in the quality of the carbon but in the quality of the resin thats used with it. If you can get it back to a good shine you should try nad have it clearcoated to help preserve the richness.

If it's started to turn amber, there's nothing you can do about it. The resin used in most carbon hoods breaks down in UV light, which is why some hoods will have an amber tint to them instead of being clear. If it is just starting to look chalky and dull, it's just the gelcoat getting oxidized. There are a lot of boat care products for fiberglass (followed by relular paint care products) that will make it look nice again. If that's all that's wrong with it, you won't need it wet sanded, just track down someone that carries 3M products for fiberglass and tell them you need to get rid of oxidation and need a mild polish. You should really get it clearcoated though, it will do wonders for UV protection and will also make it as easy to care for as the rest of your paint. Then you can use regular polishes and waxes on it.

I'm having problems with my evo wing.
Do you have a shop? how much would it cost to do something like that for my wing?
Thanks

I used 3m fiberglass restorer for heavily oxidized boats on mine.

worked like a champ.
