Kept hearing ticks, so i torqued all my header bolts to make sure they were tight and one snapped. It is the one on the far end toward the front of the block. Wasent even tight yet, the head just snapped right off. I know if I want to fix it I would need to re-tap it, but im not really worried about it if its not causing a leak.

i honestly dont know what to tell you about how to fix it without pulling the engine up to a height to where you can drill with an easy out.

If it's not leaking than I wouldnt worry about it.

I had a stud come out cross-threaded when I put my headers on, and it's been fine with no leaks.

gee...a 4.8/5.3/601/8.1 with a ticking exhaust manifold and broken bolt?

never seen that happen

you dont have to pull the engine, there are tricks to it in the truck.

get it fixed before you do some nice valve cracking, if it aint done already. those engines are NOTORIOUS for having valve guides crack and lock up once there is an exhaust leak, and burn very fast.

I'm sure you guys see tons of snapped bolts/studs when replacing spark plugs. We used that tool that braces against the bolt head and snapped one or two.
