BMW are doing interesting things these days...

Re: BMW are doing interesting things these days...
+rep when I can. Somehow, in my old S-Class, my view is blocked by the trunks of other cars. Why is the top of the rear bumper on a Camaro at eye-level when I'm in my S-Class? Why does a Camaro SS weigh 200lbs more than my S-Class. Why does a new S-Class weigh ONE THOUSAND POUNDS more than my S-Class? WTF Is going on with the world?
Old cars ftw. I never get tired of mentioning that the brochure for a 1985 Mercedes S-Class says when you are in an S-Class are you "not in the soft lap of luxury" and that a car "is not a lounge or a living room." I wouldn't be surprised if at some point in the 90s/00s they wrote in an S Class language that it is the lap of luxury and you feel like youre a in a lounge.

I like whoever writes Porsche's manuals. My dad's says in the stereo manual something like "This car is not good for listening to music in."

lol I love how driving focused 80s and 90s german cars were, mine didn't even come with cupholders because it would interfere with shifting into 2nd and 4th if there were drinks in the cupholders.

I wish BMW would just focus on driver's cars again. The new 7 is great at what it does, and that's fine, but their performance cars just don't cut it. I want to see the S85 V10 in an E92 M3 that weighs less than 3200lbs. Unfortunately, that would mean cutting the amenities out that enable the vehicle to sell to anyone other than purists.
These days, you can't cater to a small group of loyalists and expect to stay afloat. Maybe i'm just being too harsh. I'd rather have this version of BMW than no BMW at all.

To be fair, my dad's Porsche is a 2002...so it does have cupholders (well, canholders). My old MB has two little indents on the inside of the glovebox lid for when you go to the drive-in movie.
