Default beater car

im starting to look for a beater car right now and need some advise. i want...

spend 900 or less
get good gas mileage (avg of at least mid 30's)
cheap on insurance
runs well

ive looked on here, craigslist, and autotrader. maybe somebody will know of another spot to find a beater

so far the cars ive been tossin around are

late 80's-early 90's civic hatch 5spd.
early 90's camry (wagon preferred)
mid 90's geo metro

i considered an older 4x4 truck like a b series mazda or a tacoma but apparently they dont get the gas mileage i want and are running over $1k

anyone with a car suggestion that fits the criteria or a good place to get a reliable beater is welcome to shed some light

thanks

Meets all of your criteria and will run forever. I thought about looking into it myself since I had over 260k on my last one when I sold it and it ran great. Insurance was like 200 a year and it got 35 mpg.

I had a 90 or was it 92 Izuzu Amigo and it was a fun little truck to drive. God it was slow but it got mid 20s.

If you want a car. Get a 92-95 Civic. I picked up my 92 Civic four door with 12x,xxx miles on it. New timing belt/waterpump. Mint interior. Fading paint. ICE COLD AC for 750 bucks. Nothing wrong at all.

They are cheap and parts are VERY cheap. They are VERY easy to work on aswell.

Samari's are fun aswell, my brother had one.

I thought about getting a beater truck, like old Amigo to drive. I may still do it.

Yeah but they’re horribly unreliable, Hell the new ones aren't much better either. A beater should never be a money pit.
