the A4 1.8T with the manual is a good highly modable car.. Has normal bugs but most are fixed by now...
yea the S4's are nice, but my budget is 10K. Yea there are a lot of aftermarket parts for the 1.8t's

I have a 5spd A4 and love it. Great car, and I've had very minimal problems with it.

I've dealt with both of these on an '00 S4, but none of the other problems you mentioned have surfaced. Another one that bugs me it the information screens in the dash tend to get lazy after 60K miles or so.

But they're certainly fun, solid, beautiful cars. And they age well.

I can't remember the last time VW built a good car.

Trust me they are very reliable. I sell more parts for Jap imports than any euro cars. I dot care what that chart says.

I'll trust data collected from thousands of owners and shops over the word of a fanboi thanks.

Hell even VW says they're aware that their cars have problems. Or did you miss the whole "a spokesman for Volkswagen of America did not deny that the company’s products had problems".

VW is over priced trash for people who think europlates on the front of a US car are cool.

Buy what you want but don't whine about it when the shit breaks down.

Alright before we keep going on with this, German cars aren't trash. Fine some people made a chart of how reliable the car is. Honestly, so what they are more expensive to maintain. This guy asked us for opinions for an audi, don't start problems because your opinion differs from someone else.

Hardtop00SS dude buy the car you like, if you have the money to keep up with the maintenence do what you feel you wanna do.

GL with whatever you deside to buy, and don't let these people put you down on your purchase.

To add to the above:

1. Don't buy an automatic
2. Make sure you get a quattro model

I read it off audiforums.com but I don't have any experience, I've also heard about the pixel problems with the screens, I can fix that also. Hopefully in the next few weeks I will be an owner, I just gotta find one.....
