Anyone melt their wireing harness with Silverstars?
I bought a set for my fiance's 626. I got what the oem calls for which is a 9003 bulb. I then found a 626 forum but it doesn't have many people so I am suspect of the information they're spouting b/c some of it is blatantly wrong www.mazda626.net.
There's a thread on how to install the headlight bulbs, but a few are saying they melted their harnesses. I dont' see how this is possible as the bulbs aren't brighter, just whiter (if you're using the bulb the system calls for).
So... anyone have issues after installing the bulbs?

Isn't it the watts that melt the harness? I've heard that a high wattage bulb runs the risk of melting harness, but I don't think those silverstars would do that. 50-60w is pretty standard I thought.

^ See that's what I thought... the bulb isn't drawing more power through the system, it's just a brighter olor temp vs. the yellow.

Aftermarket bulbs carry higher wattage. Therefore before installing them it is reccomended to purchase a lighting harness. Its built with a higher resistance than the stock harness. Install is pretty straightforward. Cut old harness wire in new one, plug in new bulbs. I sell aftermarket bulbs all the time and I always reccomend the harness. It's only $5 for the set, If I dont have them in stock you can pick them up at WALMART . Hope that helps.
