Another WWYB thread. Cheap E46 considerations
So, I bought a beater Integra a few months ago and it's fine for what it does. Problem is, I want a stick shift RWD for beater #2, to make up for what the Integra is not fun wise.
An early E46 seems like the obvious choice in this segment. 323, 325, 328, what would you buy if you wanted to spend less than $7K for usable DD?
Or would you look for a better E36?

miata, 240, sc300, e30, e36, e34, e39.
Pick whichever one you like best. e46's are gay. You can get a e36 m3 for less then $7k. I'm putting mine up for sale soon for a little more then that.

Hmm.. Cheap fun beater...
What about this? http://smd.craigslist.org/cto/1734266663.html
E30 with a S52 swap out of an E36 M.....ran the last 7 of the vin through realoem and it should be a manual tranny.

Probably not going to choose a highly modified/swapped car. I like E30's but I'd rather get something less than 10 years old. Not really considering a 5-series since they're harder to find with a 5 speed manual, and a little bigger than I want.

I like my 2001 325I E46 as a daily driver. Its pretty quick, handles well, and is comfortable to drive. Probably going to sell it soon so I can buy a 2000 to a 2004 toyota tacoma or tundra though.

Speed 6 is sold, I want a second cheap but fun car to tide me over until I can buy something newer. I'm keeping the integra to haul stuff (hatchback).

Test drove this one today. High mileage, but looks good for it's age. I figure if the subframe was going to crack, it would have happened by now.
