Another "what should I buy thread". . .
Well it looks as if my VR6 turbo GTI might be sold in the next week or so. So I guess I need to start shopping. I'm looking to take out a loan no bigger than about $22k and I've got about $4000 of "expendable" cash for a down payment. So I'm looking for somewhere around $26k. The reason I won't go over that is because I want to have it paid off by the time I leave Hawaii in a little under 2 years.
I don't have a problem with used cars but they could be no older than a year or two old. I want something that is going to be easy to drive (wife would be driving it too) and reliable. It still has to be a sporty car with room for some mods. A back seat isn't nessesary because we have a Honda Pilot too. Here's what I'm looking at now.
2005 Aspen White STi. HKS exhaust, Blitz BOV (which would get taken off and put back to stock for now), and a clarion head unit. It's got 22k miles and all the service records.
Mods while I'm in Hawaii would be coils and LE-37t wheels, possible a front mount cuz it looks cool. After that, turbo, e-manage, and a few little sprinklings for 350-400hp hopefully. I'm leaning to this right now. $26,000. If you know anything to keep an eye out for on STis let me know.
Other choices are an '04 - '05 S2000, G35 coupe, Supra (if I could find one on island in good shape, it would be a no brainer), 03-04 Mustang Cobra, or F150 Lightning. Like I said, practicality isn't an issue. Fun to drive is. If you make a recommendation for or against one of those choices, please give a reason why, or at least some thing to look out for. Please don't say something like "Eww, S2000s are torqueless piles of crap", or "Yee-haw, get the piece of shit redneck truck" if you don't have any experiance with them.
If you've got any other ideas besides these car, I'll take them into account also. Thanks.

I chose the STi, because they are fun cars to drive. But I think you should definitely get another S2000. Stick with your roots!!!!

It's one of the choices for sure. They're few and far between out here and they're marked up quite a bit.
Shipping from the East Coast is somewhere around $2000. There are a couple cars out there I was considering but I'm not willing to eat the $2000. Are you?
I know I know... I've always kinda wanted an STi too though. Choices choices....

Yeah but my issue is finding a well kept, low mile '03 that someone is willing to part with. I don't really mind the 2.2s anymore. My old man has one and loves it. Of course, if he goes through with this deal he's trying to work on a 996 turbo, I'll just buy his S2000.

And I think a G35 Coupe is too luxurious for what you're looking for. The "cool" factor is there, but I dont think the G35 is as cool as say its counterpart (350Z)

Seeing as how the G35 is 95% as sporting as the 350Z and a WAY "nicer" car for around the same price...I couldn't justify the 350Z.

If you could stretch the $$ bigger down or whatever 07STI 2years 0% Financing. I'm thinking about selling the WRX for a new one with 0%...probably won't though, saving up for something cooler in a couple years or so like the Skyline or a Z06
