Chris is very, very right here. The spray can paint is not going to hold up at all, even a "real" au (or ae) paint will not hold up without a clear on it.

PM if you become interested in getting it coated though, I can get you a good deal if you want to do some kind stock cover trade.

I was always a fan of sanded and polished lettering.

someone should start a official valve cover thread. Then i can show off my SR20 and KA24 valve covers =p

Honestly...yes and no. Powdercoat will generally last longer than a paint job, but if you do the paintjob correctly and with the future in mind (i.e. sanding, priming, re-sanding, painting several coats, several coats of clear, and then bake it on at 215 for 30 minutes) then i don't see why it wouldn't last you as long as you needed it to.

Anyway, to answer the question that this topic was asking...I think it would look good with the letters and Honda emblem sanded an polished.
