Re: 2014 Ford F-150 Tremor
So it's just a fancy trim package and a lower rear end gear?
It looks nice, but I don't see what you're getting for the money.

I know they don't offer the 4.10 with the eco-boost motor normally. But yeah, this is essentially a parts bin vehical that they'll give a fancy name to, throw some $1500 stickers on, dress up the interior, and then charge 150% more than it should cost based on the parts it's equipped with.
I like what Ford has been doing lately, but I really wish they would ditch this '90s style badge marketing thing all-together

Whoa whoa whoa hold on a sec.
Does anyone in this thread own an Ecoboost?
I do. Now obviously, as you can see by my screen name, I'm not the biggest Ford fan. I do own a Mustang 5.0 Coyote, and I just picked up a 2013 Ecoboost. It's a 4x4 Supercrew w/ 3.55's
First and foremost. Gas mileage. I drive from Manassas to Herndon every day (ie do 30 miles an hour in stop and go traffic while the United Nations of drivers talk on their phones) and I average 19mpg. I drive back and forth to Philly and I average between 27-30mpg highway. I achieve this at 65mph.
When I bought mine, you couldn't get a standard cab with the ecoboost. I really wanted a shortbed 4x4 standard cab.
Anyway, the engine in the Ecoboost is completely forged. Top to bottom. It has 51mm twins on it that really makes the truck scoot. They run about a 14.50 and up in the 1/4. Older lightenings ran around a 13.50 and up.
I think with the lighter truck and a little massaging of the ecoboost this thing is gonna be awesome.

It's like the supercar structure of charging tens of thousands of dollars for special edition paint colors and accent-color seat inserts.
And I do like that they made it a short-wheelbase, reg cab version. That's probably the one reason I would consider buying one at all. I'll bet they release a standard version of the short WB, reg cab though, negating my desire to buy this one for more money.

Re: 2014 Ford F-150 Tremor
American car companies love their badge engineering. GM hyped up a special review today for the Corvette's 60th anniversary. People got excited. It ended up being a stupid "Preimier Edition" which comes with a name plate and custom luggage. It's gone over on the forums like a fart in a space suit. Forum members young and old hate it... been dubbed the "suitcase" edition already and people are wondering why GM marketing, who has done a nearly flawless job so far, decided to go back to the old tricks of parts bin engineering right out of the gate?
