Not always true.... the C5 has been fly by wire since '97 and there have never been any issues or recalls relating to the electronic throttle setup. It's pretty awesome b/c a car designer can make the throttle open an a progressive rate compared to a stuck linear rate of a cable design.

New Civic looks cool.

ill second that. almost all the newer model lexus' have fly by wire and there havent been any problems with it.

cable throttle can open at a progressive rate too. It's all in the shape of the butterfly pully. If it's constant circumference it'll be linear, but if the circumference changes, the rate will too.

VW has DBW as well and I hate it.
