2.8 VR6 Build
ok ok I know I made a thread about building a diffrent car buutttt I came across a kick ass deal on a 94 corrado and spurred and bought it. Sooo... For an all motor build whats a good way to start? cams, gears, pullys? I dont think I want to bore it out. Just alittle more pip. And for you VW dudes, how well does an automatic trans hold up to nitrous?
First off, n/a VR6s sound sick, but it'll takes serious money to get anywhere staying n/a. I've been involved with a serious n/a build (3.1l, big cams, big valve head) and it was an amazing piece, but really is a time bomb and took big cash (nearly $10k, IIRC including drivetrain upgrades) Secondly, if you found what you think is a good deal, it's probably not a good deal. lol
You found an auto VR6 Corrado? If you like the Corrados you should look for a manual one and boost it. You'll be much happier.

I consider the car a good deal for the fact that Iv known the guy whos owned it for 6 years. Its been babied in that time, I know this because well... Im best friends with the guy. I found a few S/C but they conflict with the auto trans. Im staying auto for the time being, Iv driven the car and Im def not disapointed. I know there are stronger bases to start with, with this car but I like the car. And for the price I got it Im not complaining. So...
If its an auto make the first upgrade a manual transmission. What city do you live in? Who had the car before? Is it green with black leather?
The best upgrade for power is PSI. The easiest way is supercharger but the most hp route is a turbo. The Vortex has all the threads you will ever need on what to do for VR6s. A NA VR6 build up cost way too much money for too little of a gain.

and +1 on the manual tranny swap. If you want to make some decent power on a VR6 the tranny is not going to hold.
Yes to the car being green with black leather, its steve steve's old car. And for the manual trans, being over here in england dosnt really permit me to do TOO much. Considering when I come back home I want to drive it. If theres a repitable shop who will do the labor for a decent price I might consider. But for now its more pricing around. My plans go as follows, paint, wheels, then some engine mods.
Make certain you get a new front bumper rebar for that car. NGP could do the tranny swap. I don't think any boost in power would be wise for the automatic. Ask Steven he can tell you how strong the automatic is.
