the GTI has been over there for 25 years now. The R32 is there 25 anv. car. We are getting the 1.8T for ours over here. They are talking about bringing it over soon. That is what i am talking about. and as far as not likeing the VR6. The jetta seems to drag it. It rides funny compared to the 2.0 and 1.8t my opinion. Now whan you have a 1.8T pushing 180 HP and a v6 pushing 200. take in the factor the diffrence in weight. The jetta seems to drag. so when you put a little more HP to the VR6 it mihgt be a better car. Untill then....I will stick to the four bangers.

Why?, Beacause i would rather have a Four banger then the VR6? To me the VR6 need a lot of help. It is a good motor but it need some help.it is only 200HP

1.8t's are sweet. I just love the smooth-as-butter VR6 tranny. And 6 gears. I don't think I could ever go back to a 5 speed. The 20th anniv here is a perfect combination of both.

Yes, the VR6s need a power upgrade. VW does retrict a lot of shit from the factory though, like air/fuel, etc. It's pretty obvious I would think...I mean it's a 2.8L 6 cyl. Do you really think 200hp is anywhere close to how much it COULD be bumping out? (from the factory that is)

Rule of thumb is this (no Boondock Saints comments plz =P):

If you want to build a very fast Dub with relatively little money on mods, you buy a 1.8t.

If you want the smoother tranny and 6 speeds, you buy a VR6.

Of course, if you are planning on spending an additional 10k on a twin turbo setup, you buy the VR6

Sorry if someone already said this. I'm too tired to read all these posts.

i think cuz u dont seem to know what ur talkin about...and the r32 is a vr6 pushin out more power...all the gtis could use the power upgrades...not only that i think the whole platform is about to get a much needed change in the upcoming mk5 but if i was goin to buy something i would def wait for the upcoming audi a3...such a sweet car

the R32 has been out there for a while. Its not a 25th anniversary car either. The R32 will be out in december, I believe. The 1.8t used to make 150 hp and the Vr6 (12valve version) used to make 174. They have been upgraded to 180 and 201 respectively. They both post about the same #s acceleration wise however the 1.8t is a little lighter and has a better weight bias....
