yeah true i wont spend 60k on cobra r that wont out performe a 50k car and for that extra 10k you could make the vette still go even faster....headers, exhaust, intake, heads maybe, throotle bodys, chips, wheels, drive shaft, flywheel...

you get your $50k c5 and i'll get my $37k cobra, play with the $13k left over, and see who has a better overall car..
but i don't wanna get into that debate again..
the mustang is not meant to compete with the corvette, even though it does. that's why it has 4 seats and is offered with a v6.

yeah but from stock to stock even the new cobra wont be able to run with a vette on the track....road racing im referring to not every thing is about stright line 1/4mile raicng u damn fast and furious boy...lol

There's a lot more to a supercar than straight line acceleration, thats a very shortsighted way to judge a car's overall performance. And I wouldn't say a new Cobra "competes" with a Z06 by any means- I have a road&track video comparing the Cobra R, Viper GTS ACR, and a Z06 on a road course - the Z06 beat the ACR by a very small margin, but the Cobra R couldn't even compete with either. Not to say they won't make improvements to the Cobra R to make it more competitive, but I don't think the $37k base model Cobra would stand a chance against a Z06 on a road course, even with $13k in aftermarket.
The Cobra is a very different car than the Z06, and really shouldn't be compared. Generally speaking vettes are built for the track and Mustangs are built for the strip.

first thing i thought when i saw the front end was a jaguar. then the viper came to mind. still like the c5 better. just something about it. maybe it was that video of the DRM Z-71 raping that GSX. must've been a 11-12 sec car. beautiful, and hugger orange to boot!
