04/05 STi OR 03/04 EVO????HELP
HEY i been thinking of getting a newer/nicer fun car. But i want one of these 2 cars right here. 04/05 sti or the 03/04 evo. Whats the pros and cons of both cars. not gonna spend more than $22,500 and yes ive seen a couple in that range. How much would it cost to maintain both cars as well as Mod both cars. nothing serious like 450whp or so and ill be happy. Havent really looked into either car. how hard is the scooby to work on and how does the motor last compared to the 4g63? since its a boxer engine does it wear out a bit easier than the inline 4g? I dont like the interior of the evo as much but might make up being the better car. help me by answering these questions?
How strong is the tranny?
how much whp can the stock motor handle?
hows the drivetrain?
reliability?
Can you put a sunroof in the scooby?
what are the common problems?
thank you

Why a 03/04 evo?..why not 05?..since it comes with ACD and a larger hotside 10.5 vs 9.8.
This is for evos only:
As far as reliabily, if you maintain the car...ie change the fluids often and keep up with general maintenance, there shouldnt be a problem. There is a local evo with over 180K miles and he is pushing about 350whp.
As far as stock motor and drivetrain goes, it depends on the driver and what type of activities the car will/have been involved with. Check out DCEvoClub.com there are lots of NOVA guys and they can better answer your questions.

how does the evo stack up against the STi?
hows the wear and tear on that boxer engine being sideways and all?
whats parts of the evo interchange with the GSX?
is a better choice to get the WRX and mod that and save 4-7 grand?

Stock for stock in that year, it's pretty much a driver's race. I've heard stories of each of them winning. I haven't ran a stock STI though. Both motors hold up great if they are well taken care of. There aren't many parts that are going to swap with the GSX since, even though they are essentially the same, they are completely different. As far as the wrx goes, I don't know on that subject.

Evo is indeed the most expensive car to insure. My insurance is going to drop a lot no matter which car I purchase. And I have a great driving record.
