I think my FWD Ford Taurus will take a turn just as well as or better than your Audi. AWD is awesome yes, but my car is setup to handle leaps and bounds better than a stock SHO. 225/50/16 rubber, Tokico Struts, Eibach pro-kit springs, subframe connectors, polyurethane bushings, a strut tower brace, and brake upgrade gives me plenty of confidence in the twisties. Oh, I'd like to race. Don't worry I have a V6, 4 door, automatic 3700 lbs. sedan.

I can vouch for his cornering ability.
I couldn't shake him off with my Formula the other night.

I think that weight is supposed to be 3462 since the other years that list the weights of the AWD and FWD 90 series show a 300lbs difference between the two.

best thing is get it weighed and see for yourself.

The "condescending attitude" was when you challenged my experience, puffing your chest out and naming all of your glorious achievements in the automotive field.....
Look, I did not become "condescending", as you say, until you basically called me ignorant. So what do you expect, I gave you a (one) reason why I might know what I am talking about. I have done a lot of other shit that is relevant but I did not go into that. Just realize you may not know it all, I sure as hell don't.

I am only in my early 30's so I am not that far removed from my college years and I understand what it is like working through that. If time permits, you may want to check out NASA I have been instructing for them and I believe they have a deal where you can do corner work for HPDE track time.

Lighthouse - Your car is average. It is not the best car $7500 can buy, and I know hundreds of FWD/RWD cars that will go through turns faster than you.

and if i ever see you taking that car down a dirt road at high speeds, we're gonna fight. Buy an old subaru if you want to do that.

racerns, I never called you ignorant, from your experience you wrote down, how could I? I know I don't know everything. I guess the problem I had earlier in this thread is everyone painted me in the wrong light. When I tried to clarify my position, I get painted in another incorrect light. I know you are an instructor for the racing school, it's in your custom user text and you mentioned it before. I'm saying that I do know about cars, and that I am passionate about Audi's as much as some other people may be passionate about their cars. Yeah, I know AWD isn't a blessing from the friction gods, it's a piece of technology to make a trip a bit more safer in the more dangerous conditions.

spic, average is a Honda, Mitsubishi, Dodge, Ford, etc... I can look outside my window and see the parking lot (lives in a house on the edge of campus) and tally up the manufacturers and I'm pretty sure Audi won't be at the top of the list. Will all those hundreds of non-AWD cars have heated front leather seats and automatic climate controls, do they have a manual locking rear differential when they get stuck? However, it's not like you or anyone cannot buy an Audi, they may be uncommon, but they aren't unattainable, you can get one if you want. Anywho, I'm not going to race this car though, it's still in excellent condition that I don't want to ruin it, and I don't have the money to fix it if I roll it over on a turn. I'm not a wreckless driver even though some of you have painted me like that.

Finally, WS6, spic and I already agreed that is a typo, as clarified by a mailing list message on an Audi website stating the Audi brochure says a curbweight of 3300 lbs.

I hope we can call all of this settled now and move on.

No.

To call an entire brand of cars average is stupid.

Maybe a certain model in a certain manufacturer's line-up is average. A dodge stratus is an average car.

How is a Dodge Viper an average car? Oh... yeah it's not AWD

Manufacturers are manufacturers, models are models. If we're talking about the average Dodge car, yeah, I'd say Stratus or Intrepid. The average Audi, probably an A4 or A6. Apples and Oranges, VR-4ever.

Audi is hardly an exotic; it’s an overpriced, over glorified VW.

AWD isn’t magic and it doesn’t over come the fact your car is both heavy and underpowered.

Plus given the piss poor build quality of VW/Audi and German products in general over the past 10 years I really wouldn’t brag about owning one.
