If you just pay it might go on your criminal record as a misdemeanor.
I didnt know that and when I got a ticket for being at Belle Isle at night. The ticket said I had to go to court, thinking I would just have to pay a fine like the officer told me, I plead guilty and had to pay a fine but I didnt know it would affect my criminal record until I printed it out one day for citizenship reasons and it showed up as a misdemaenor. I was pissed but theres nothing I can do now.
My wife (girlfriend then) was with me that night and also got a ticket, Her's was dismissed and just had to pay court costs and has nothing on her criminal record. (Not trying to sound racist but she's got blonde hair and green eyes and I'm hispanic) Same day, same court, same judge.
Im not saying it will be the same for you but you should look into it before you just pay it.

What were you doing there after dark and what did you tell the cop?
I would try and fight it honestly. Just say you were having car problems and waiting for someone to show up and help.
Usually Im not one for BSing in court but a tresspassing ticket is crap if you ask me. Aslong as you werent there messing anything up. I have seen plenty of cars there after dark.
