to correct your statement, We get a 3% raise every january, no matter what. What we get beyond that is decided by congress. That could probably be blocked (I'm not that into the politics of it) but lets face it, the backlash that would result wouldn't be pretty. And as far as BAH, the fact that the cost of living is on a steady rise in most places, they won't be "lowering" BAH, its dictated by cost of living in that area.


And again, some of the lack of information in this thread is amazing. Some of you really need to do some research.

I am aware of that.. I was talking about the pay raise we are about to get. Out side of the one your talking about... And the current pres put that in for us himself..congress aproved of it but whatever.. I highly doubt with obama we are going to get much pay raises other than what has already been stated.. and as i said previously no-one is going to lower bah. your right it is dictated by cost of living in the area. but i do think alot of e-4 and below should have to live in the barracks i dont know how the navy operates since i am in the army.

 

Actually no....the 3% is not a "given." There were a few years back in the 90s where I only got 1 or 2%

 

Yea, it changes every year with the budget but military and civil service get 3.9% pay increase for 2009. We usually end up getting less than the military.
