Rim broke off?!?!?!
I bought a set of 20" Helo Giovanna KMC rims 4 my Ford Ranger. They were brand spankin new. I bought them at the begining of the summer. Opt'd not to have the place i bought them from to put the suckers on. (dumb thing). Monday...yesterday...i was driving to my parents house for christmas break. They live up in Fredricksburg...i've taken this drive PLENTY of times in the past 4 months...newport news to fredricksburg...not that long...200-220 miles round trip...no problem. Yesterday i was on the far left lane on the off ramp to get onto 295 from 64....all of a sudden....my ass end is coming up to the side of me and im taking up 2 lanes of traffic going sideways for about 30 feet. I semi regain control and stop immediatly on the shoulder missing 2 cars. Got out of the car swearing like a drunk. take a look around my truck and i notice that my driver side rear wheel was touching my bed. In further investigation and more swearing. I saw that the brake rotor was resting on the inside of my new rim. Looking in further detail at my rim...it seems that in the nice little ride on the off ramp and scrap'd a couple of lines in the chrome...so i had nice long strips of chrome that was all over the road. After I saw that the brake rotor was on the rim. Decided to get the key to unlock the hub cap and ALL my lug nuts fell out. Sat on the side of the road for a good hour-hour 1/2. Tow truck finally came. Went to Bill TalleyFord. They told me that those types of rims don't handle torque. The lugnuts vibrated off until i took that turn and they snapp'd off. So im stuck to get a new rim...which sucks...esp in christmas time. i just spent a TON of money...LUCKILY i still have my stock rims and tires at my parents house. So i can still have a functional truck. Just not with the bling bling that i work'd long and hard for. Just thought i'd let yall kno..vent a little bit. Any comments are welcome.

did you go back and retorque the wheels 100 or so miles after you put them on? Most people forget to do it, or jst don't. But with new wheels, it's very important. Sorry to hear about your luck tho man,

Eh... I've never had a lug nut come loose after properly torquing it... but it's good to check them every now and then.
So did the wheel break or did the wheel studs snap from the wheel comming loose?
And since when does a Ranger have torque?
