So im just a little curious as to how many people get pissed when the popo decide they have nothing else to do other than stereotype the majority of people that like to go hang out in Norfolk on the weekend, I like going out there and hanging out with friends that I dont even get to see for a long time and I relly think there is nothing wrong with "car enthusiast" going to a single spot to hang out. On the other hand it pisses me off when little "ricers" come out there and rev the hell out of their engines or try to get on it in a parking lot. So i was just wondering how many of us feel about the same way becauuse i was going to talk to some news stations cause i have some friends and see if we could convince them to come out there and do a story so maybe, just maybe the cops would learn to chill out a little. So lemme know

 

no, we dont want to bring attention to ourselves... even if we're not doing anything wrong because then you might hear about something happening near there with racing or whatever involved and then the finger is pointed at us. only time we do want attention is at a sanctioned event or something that helps out the community IMHO

 

i agree but dont think it will work. due to the fact that once the "ricers" see the camera they will do anything it takes to get on cam weather it be bad or good.plus the cops know whats going down so thats another reason i dont think it would work.

 

thats a good point. though, his idea may work and if the cops realize that we arn't all out there to cause trouble then maybe they'd let off some. but then theres a chance that more people would notice the gatherings and would try and put a stop to them

 

i think it would be cool if the cops would just hang out there so nobody does anything stupid, but they have more important things to do than babysit a bunch of kids ya know?

 

In all honesty, contacting the news is likely to make the situation worse. If the police come out to the lot and take down plate numbers, it's because the owner or a lessee of the parking lot you're occupying has told the police that they don't want you there. That means your trespassing and the police are enforcing the law, which is what they're paid to do.

I can say, being a Norfolk resident, that the police REALLY do have better things to that kick people out of a parking lot, especially in that area, but if someone complains, they have to do their jobs.

If you want to be able to hang out somewhere, then you're going to have to get permission to use that place, plain and simple. Otherwise, the police are going to do their jobs and no one can fault them for that.

 

true true, well im just trying to think of someway we can actually get away with hanging out in a place like that without getting kicked out cause its really quite annoying, especially for those guys that drive from nn or somewhere

ok so how about this...for those of us in the military, how about contacting a congressman, and stating the simple fact that you are involved in a hobbie that is morale building, safe when "hanging out " and bringing fellow military people together.... come on now, we have the upper hand when we get congress involved.. if someone takes the roll to be the spokesman /president of the board when approaching the congressman, then it can surely be happened ....and when people come in there acting stupid, just make them leave. But if your not in the military, and we get this to work for you, then the only thing i think most of us would ask from you guys, is to go out to where we are allowed to meet up, and be civilized, take all the dumb shit somewhere else ya know....its just a suggestion , but im sure some people on this board have pull

 

Honestly what I think,

The Lot that we go to has been a place we have met at for YEARS!!! But, I would think that if the cops wanted us to quit racing, the community would open a place close to us so we can race. Like, I had a thought, The Norfolk Airport not far from Robin Hood road, could open a Runway for all of us to run, Ya know? I mean hell I'd even pay 10 dollars or so for an entry fee to run at night at the runway. At the same time that money could go to charity's or the police department and at the same time it would keep the streets safer etc etc. Does that sound logical?
