Default Need some Beach/Hotel Advice from 757 peeps

Hey guys, I'm coming down from 703 for my girl's 21st. I'd like to get a hotel that is not extremely close to the beach, but maybe 30-45min from the beach. The hotel I'm looking at is Comfort Inn Olde Town. Any other suggestions or reviews of this hotel? I know absolutely nothing about the area - and would need to figure out how to get to VA Beach from Norfolk. Any advice is appreciated - thanks.

**edit** I reserved a room at the Clarion Hotel James Madison in downtown Norfolk. Any good bars we should try to hit while we are in downtown Norfolk?

If you are going to stay in Ptown, stay at the Renaissance. The comfort inn is a ghetto ass hotel. The Holiday Inn isn't that bad and there is a Restaurant called The Deck that is pretty nice.

Sorry, I got a room at the Clarion Hotel James Madison on Granby St. It looks like this:

Hopefully it turns out to be a nice place. If you guys have any favorite places to go - just let me know. I know my girl wants to go to the beach, so thats what we're doing most of Saturday.

The Clarion's not bad at all. You'll have to pay extra for parking I believe, but you're right smack in the middle of some nice bars and restaurants. You'll also be close enough to the highway to make an easy trip to the beach.

Let me know when you're in town...I have a couple BAR Norfolk things to get in free and ride the bull for free that you can have, because I'll probably never use them.

Thanks for being cool guys. If you want, you can PM me a cell #. I can't promise I'll call - but I'll try. The plan is to be on the beach from 10-3, and we'll get into the hotel at 3. After that, we have no idea what we're doing. Either more beach, or walking around. We're meeting a friend around 11:30pm to see if we can find somewhere to drink or hangout. Then Sunday we might do some more beach before we leave. Thanks for all the advice and everything!

If you come out of your hotel, and walk left or right you will find a place to drink within one or two blocks. Granby street is great!

Well, I changed hotels. I read some bad reviews about the one on Granby street, so I chose to get the SpringHill Suites Marriott on Newtown Rd. Looks like a really nice hotel - and a nice King size bed/suite. Thanks for the help guys.
