Mods to do while curing my hurtin' rear end...
Lately my ring/pinion has started whining along w/ a second distinct noise that I thought was the throwout bearing. Turns out the second noise was the coupler in my torque tube (driveshaft) being worn out. They're rubberish, and some of the hardcore C5 dragracers have torn them to pieces over time.
So the whole drive train is being taken out on GM's dime... perfect time to do a clutch. Installing a clutch on a C5 requires all those same parts to be removed for access and is about 10-14 hrs of labor. Now it'll only cost me an hour or two extra. Couldn't ask for a better time to replace my stock '01 clutch w/ 39,xxx miles on her. It's not slipping yet, but it'd be really stupid to button the car back up w/ the stock stuff in there. So.... here's what I just bougt from Carolina clutch... should be here Friday.
LUK ProGold Stage II clutch w/ Fidanza aluminum flywheel (has 20% more holding power than stock and the flywheel is 12 lbs lighter)
New slave cylinder w/ remote bleeder line so I can now bleed the clutch hydraulics w/ out remove the exhaust from the car.

Brian,
Have you talked with the dealer to make sure they will do this for you? I think you had your headers installed by the dealer while they had your heads off, right?
I say if they will do it go for it. Save the money you would have had to install the stuff yourself on other parts (HEADS, CAM)

Man where the heck have you been... thought you were dead! The car shuold be done tomorrow (waiting on new header gaskets from GM). It's all in and it was going to cost $100.00 to do it
Unfortunately he had to drop my headers out of the way for the clutch install so it's goig to be a hair more, but normally it costs $1000!
You do any mods of late?

Sorry guys, I've tried to post on here a couple times but for some reason the site never comes up. I have been extremely busy with work these last couple of months so there has been very little time for me to play. How have you all been?
