Are there any good Japanese Grocery stores / markets in the area? Any of them sell fresh fish? I'd like to start making sashimi at home because I'm a sushi addict but its sucking my wallet dry.

 

just goto any oriental place, they usually carry fresh fish.. ok maybe sometimes. i know places like "four season" down on va beach blvd has alot of them.

btw if you want to know if a fish is still fresh, look at the fish's eyes, if its all foggy, it means its old

 

I'd rather not go through the hassle of cleaning the fish haha. I read that most japanese markets have the fillet pre-cut, ready for sushi. ive been meaning to check four seasons out, ill go tomorrow

 

I know there's one right off on VB Blvd behind a pet store. Sorry I can't think of the name of the street, but if you heading eastbound on the blvd it's right before you get to Independence. I think there's an Arby's or something. Hang a left near that.

Ah, ok.

The only reason I know of that place is because my girl has dragged me into that pet store a few times to look at a bird she wants. $1500 is too much though
