You only have to make Matt your bestfriend, son, or father to understand that.

There is NO evidence of excessive speed on the bikes behalf.

I used to work with this guy on the Truman. He was an Air Traffic Controller. My girlfriend and him were VERY good friends. I am praying for his soul and his family. No one needs to go out the way he did. It is a sad situation. My gilfriends birthday was Sunday and she woke up to the news that one of her best friends was dead. RIP Matt...

Going 100mph down a 35 is not being cautious. And yeah it sucks we have a 'reputation'. But you don't get a reputation for one or two incidents - This is coming from an avid rider. I'd say a good 80% of sport bike riders have never taken their bikes to the track. So all these people buy a bike built to be retardly fast, just to cruise? F-That. Oh, and its not your RIGHT to be on the road next to every other car, its a PRIVELEDGE. Get that shit out of your head or you'll be next to your 6 friends.

the durango was torn up but not 100 mph torn up. Its all speculation but I've seen cars hit when the driver was doing 100+ mph and they were really torn up with the bike inside and dead passengers. I've seen broken frames and bikes all the way into the drivers seat after hitting the passenger side at those speeds. The steelers qb that crashed his busa into the lady that made a left in front of him also did a bit of damage and he wasn't going very fast. The c-pillar in that car was also bent. It is not a "PRIVELEGE" to be on the road any more than any car or truck out there. Noone deserves to die out on the street because they're on a bike anymore than if they were driving a car

Please do! Actually I might be on Speedvision instead of the news if they tape the XDL US Stuntriding Championship at VIR in October!

Typing is also a priveledge and you don't deserve it.

When anyone on a bike gets hurt I feel bad for them and the family. RIP

All jokes aside, I feel really bad for the families involved.

We all have done some illegal things in our lives, ever spun tires from a redlight, gotten on it down that exit ramp, lifted up that front wheel...etc.

IMO, I don't think they were doing 100, maybe a bit faster than the said speedlimit.

We all have done it, on bikes or in cars. Noone deserves this, noone.

R.I.P.

Look, lets get this straight, quit putting words in my mouth. At NO POINT DID I SAY HE DESERVED TO DIE. In fact, my first serious words were of condolences. You can bitch all you want about cars cutting you off or how much it sucks to be on a bike because other people don't care, well if thats the way you feel, then I suggest quit riding. For all the bitching you'll do, you're never going to make drivers smarter or safer. The ONLY thing you can do is drive safer yourself. Those guys, while obviously, and most likely, weren't doing 100mph as stated (yes, a gross exageration), they CERTAINLY were NOT doing the speed limit. Your guys arguement is essentially that bikers should be able to break the speed like everyone else and get away with it. Its simply not the case. Oh, and you saying you doubt i've never raced at VIR, then stating you don't care if I prove it, basically proves that you have no justifiable arguement. If you want to see the fairings where I layed my bike down, I'll certainly take pictures. I do have condolences for these guys, it does suck, but they were NOT practicing safe riding. Am I a saint? Hell no. But 99% of the time, I do because I know what could happen. And whoever said something about their friend bashing in a window because someone merged into them again proves my point. If I can avoid riding next to some car, I will. Why didn't your friend just give it some brake? Because he probably had the mentality that the car should respect his presence. YOU CAN'T DEMAND THAT WHILE RIDING. You're on a 350 lb bike, they're in several ton cars. YOU'RE ultimately responsible for YOUR safety. DON'T RELY on everyone else for your safety. Again, it sucks that happened to that guy, it really does. But when you're riding a bike, YOU'RE ultimately responsible for YOUR well being.

I'm not going to get into your arguement about safety or anything else you have been rambling on about... my question is, did you give a report to the police about the accident? I mean, you're talking about it as if you were there. It's amazing how "certain" you can be when all the information you're basing your judgement on is hear say. Please, show me ONE story that says these guys were speeding? I'll give them 10mph over maybe, but I highly doubt(although not "certain."), that they were reckless (if you can even call it that). I did NOT witness the event with my eye's, but I did with my ears. I also saw the carnage and as gruesome as it was, the wreckage did not appear to be of the 50+mph nature or of anything that signified something other than normal condition driving. The bikes were in fairly close proximities as were the bodies. As for the damage, yes, there was a good amount done to the side of the Durango. But keep in mind, it wasn't 350-400lbs that hit it. It was more like 900-1000lbs. BOTH bikes hit it as well as both riders. The bike on the inside got the worst of it.

I love all the justifications, scientific facts, and the rest of the bullshit that has been typed in this thread.

My dad has been in two major motorcycle accidents:
1.The first a guy pulled out and my dad took out the front left fender, most of the hood, and the bike did the rest. On his way over the car, he managed to squeeze his gas tank about 4 inches thinner than it was before. He was doing the speed limit of 35.

2. The second time he was re-ended at a stop by a car doing slightly over 40 and destroyed the front end of the car, new hood and windshield.

The sheer physics of this whole equation have not been answered yet:

1.Speed of the riders
2. Speed of the Durango
3. Weight of the riders
4. Weight of the Durango(easily answered)
5. Weight of the bikes (thats easily answered)
not to mention the fire, and the twisting of the metal as the fire department cooled the fire.

I doubt they were speeding. An R1 does not denote the fact that they were. Bonney Rd is an awesome drive, one I wouldn't waste on 100+ mph.

Stop making dumbass assumptions and let the dead rest in peace.
