Look at the video that goes along with the link. The durango's c-pillar is bent in at least a foot and a half. Now please tell me they were doing the speed limit. You're saying it takes rocket science to determine the speed they were going. From what people say, you don't get split in two, or do THAT much damage, doing 35mph. Your arguement basically forensic science is worthless, because afterall, no-ones seen it.

is an accident doing about 35-40. She had time to brake slightly. Now tell me, these guys were doing 35 mph and did that to themselves.

lost cause, i'm not contiuing this argument. i have better things to do with my time than argue on the internet.

all i said is that you weren't there, niether was i, so no one knows how fast they were going other than those involved.

in any case, i wish the survivors a speedy recovery, and my best wishes to matt's family and friends.

i'm truly sorry for everyone involved.

and as for all you bike haters... kiss my ass, we have just as much of a right to be on the roads as you do. nine times out of ten, we're alot safer, and much more cautious of other drivers than you cagers EVER are. we have to be, since most of you all in cars drive like you're out to kill us. If you'd get the fucking cell phone out of your ear and pay attention, this sort of thing would be less likely to happen.

yes, i'm pissed, yes, i'm upset, this is fucking rediculous, and it never should have happened. over the last 6 years i've had at least one friend die in a motorcycle accident PER YEAR b/c some dipshit in a car wasn't paying attention.

as far as "speculation" of thier speed... if you didn't see it with your own eyes, then shut the fuck up. unless you have a vast understanding of the physics involved when a body hits an object at speed, and can make an EDUCATED "guess" at thier speed, then you have no right to say shit, and give the motorcycling community a worse reputation than we already have. we all know that SOME people do things on motorcycles that are illegal, but that doesn't mean we ALL do, and if you're going to base your judgement on us as a whole on the actions of the few, then you're just fucking stupid, and i feel sorry for you.

You don't crater the side of an SUV like that unless you're hauling ass. If you're on a bike, you need to be more cautious for the exact reasons you listed. Going 100mph down a 35 is not being cautious. And yeah it sucks we have a 'reputation'. But you don't get a reputation for one or two incidents - This is coming from an avid rider. I'd say a good 80% of sport bike riders have never taken their bikes to the track. So all these people buy a bike built to be retardly fast, just to cruise? F-That. Oh, and its not your RIGHT to be on the road next to every other car, its a PRIVELEDGE. Get that shit out of your head or you'll be next to your 6 friends.
and its a privledge for that car to be beside the bike as well, so how the fuk does that make a difference on saying its a PRIVELEDGE, plz your rant does nothing but make you sound like a wannabe hardass, and since your such a "avid" rider maybe you would know a bike isnt as "light" as people perceive em to be and its like a bullet hitting a sport utlility vechile like that, and for you to judge someone else saying "they deserve to die" omg your a straight bitch, thats like you saying "steve orwin(crocdile hunter) deserved to die because he was swimming above a sting ray", so you telling me if you speed on a motorcycle you deserve to die now, so if im goin 20 over im cutting off my own branch eh? people like you have no respect, and im calling bullshit on you being a "motorcycle racer", and dont worry about proving me wrong because i dont give a fuk. the main thing i want YOU to get out of this post is stfu and dont wish death or say "oh they deserve it" because matt platt woke up just like you, and he put his pants on just like you, and he had dreams just like you.

The Truman. Even sadder, I just found out that my roommate was friends with the guy and I'm not even sure if he knows yet. I told him the story about the biker but I had no clue who it was until this morning.

although I can understand where the argument is coming from, I think the big picture is being missed. A 22 year old "kid" died Sat night quite violently. I don't give a shit if he was sitting on the front handle bars watching TV when he hit the SUV... it is tragic, and a horrible loss for his family and friends. You only have to make Matt your bestfriend, son, or father to understand that.

There is NO evidence of excessive speed on the bikes behalf.
