Hiring Mid-level Java Programmer
The company I work for, Zel Technologies, is looking to hire a mid-level Java Programmer. Zel Tech is located in downtown Hampton near the VA Air & Space Museum. If you or someone you know is currently looking for employment and have a good understanding of Java and JavaScript, then feel free to apply. You must be a US citizen and capable of obtaining a DoD security clearance (fairly clean record). I've been told this position starts out at $50-60k/year depending on experience. Job Description:
* Responsible for implementing efficient and maintainable software applications in an innovative and deadline driven environment. Develops software applications using Java and other appropriate programming languages, procedures and tools. Responsible for coding and testing software and analyzing requirements. Follows applicable published standards for software development.
Experience:
* Required: Must have strong Java, JavaScript, and HTML experience. 2-4 years in Java or other object oriented programming languages is required.
* Desired: Working knowledge of XML, Web Services, ODBC/JDBC, Web Application design, JUnit, Ant, Sybase, WebLogic, Eclipse, Subversion, J2EE Patterns, Hibernate, DOJO and Velocity.
Tasks/Responsibilities:
* Required:
o Assist in the development and testing of software
o Support other activities as required (briefings/meetings, development of documentation, internal project schedules required to meet milestones)
o Support other corporate personnel
o Effective communicator
o Good interpersonal skills
o Effective use of material and equipment
o Working knowledge of MS Office products
o May conduct some research
* Desired:
o Ability to analyze software requirements and design documentation to correctly implement required software modules and associated unit tests with a minimum of guidance
o Knowledge of design patterns and component-based design
o Current DoD security clearance a definite plus
Education:
* Required: Bachelor’s Degree BS/BA in Computer Science or equivalent with up to 5 years development experience. Additional experience of up to 8 years development experience may serve as a substitute if the candidate has a degree in another technical field.
