It's a stand alone system. A good one at that.

 

i always wondered were tuners and chips worth the money or are they BS?

 

Some are and some aren't. The tunability from a stand alone is nearly unmatched unless the oem management can be tweaked a lot. My car has a chip and it's well worth the $300 I paid to get it. More power, better gas mileage, higher rev limit and removed speed govener...all great things.
