Some idiots that know jackshit about basketball don't realize that these international teams have caught up and aren't scared anymore.

They are great teams that have been playing together for years. Many of these teams have great players, not just the NBA guys. So many more international players could come to the NBA, but choose not to for various reasons. Their highest stage for basketball is the olympics, not the NBA.

Everyone knows the USA doesn't play team ball well. That's no fault to the players or coaches. They've only been playing together for a couple of months, not years like some international teams.

The olympic rules are catered towards the european style of play. It's our game played by their rules. It's sort of like us sending a MLB all star team, but telling them homeruns don't count and you can only throw fastballs. It's still baseball and our sport, but rules are better for international teams.

Hindsight is 20/20 and we can monday morning quarterback the USA team all day long, but why stress. Like I said before, at least they went and played, which is more than I can say for most of our "patriotic fad" NBA superstars.

The freaking "first string" players were scared to goto the Olympics because of security reasons. What's the matter, can't afford a couple extra bodyguards on that salary of yours?

Ray allen and T-Mac SPECIFICALLY stated that they have security concerns and were deciding not to participate. All the superstars, whether public or private, were scared of terrorists. Some came up with other excuses, but unless they were deep playoff teams, they had lots of time to "rest".
