Good place to buy sunglasses
Yea i have like the smallest head/face in the world so there are only like a few pairs that actually look legit. I have a pair of arnettes and they are still a bit too big.
'local':
yes
Owned by Sunsations, same cooperation that owns a billion tourist traps:
yes
It's obvious when you walk on CE and they have the same braided necklaces and shit the tourist traps do.
Even WRV is not considered a local surfshop.

Why is that? They started in this area and are run by the same group of people, IIRC.
I've seen the same workers here in VB/OBX and Hawaii.
Great quality brands, but not what he's looking for. I'm a huge fan of Maui Jims.

go to www.eyewearpalace.com I bought a pair of Prada sunglasses from their for $198 with s&h. The exact glasses that I bought from there sell for $310 at sunglass hut. By the sunglass hut will match prices if you bring them an ad with the price or the checkout sheet from online.
If he's not looking for those, maybe a pair of Persols? Other than that, I don't know. Not a fan of that euro-trash prada/gucci/armani/etc. stuff. What brand are you looking for? I own too many damn sunglasses, and so do a lot of friends of mine and they may be willing to part with them.

Maybe local to the area, but not your "local" surf shop.
From my experience, Coastal edge is always over priced. Most of the employees are annoying as shit too.
WRV is local, as it is here, Kill devil hills, and Hawaii. I have been to all 3 stores more times than I could begin to count and you see some of the same guys in all three, same management in all 3...
Id say check out WRV for a large selection and a good price. I like hotline, they are good people, but its normally priced a bit higher. I'm just not a fan of 17th street.

I don't know, maybe it's just me then. Everyone I know kinda considers WRV and 17th to be more mainstream than corner 24/whalebone/hotline, etc.
I know mainly 17th and less so WRV will get the tourist / non-surfing locals support, but not as much for the other shops.

Price vs. selection. WRV has the best selection anywhere. They also have great customer service. Picked up my Oakleys there. If you're going to buy high end shades to begin with, price shouldn't be the determining factor.
