dentist recommended + dental insurance q's
a friend needs some work done. is there any dentist you would recommend to friends/family for crown or root canal?
friend also doesnt have insurance. anyone knowledgable on the subject? he is decided on whether to just pay cash or go get dental insurance from like delta dental or something like that. but i think most require you be with them 6-12 months before you can benefit on crowns and root canals. is there a dental insurance you would recommend?
thanks

1) http://www.toothwoman.net & http://bphc.hrsa.gov contact state/local dentist associations for free or reduce clinics.
2) people are saying look for dental colleges for reduce rates.
I'm a 3rd year dental student at VCU's Medical College of Virginia. Our prices are about half of what you would pay a private practice. If your friend is a student and qualifies the screening process, I can complete all of his dental work for $300/year. This is a special discount for HS, college, grad, community college, tech school, any kind of student. If his dental work does not add up to $300, the rest will be refunded. I screen on Wednesdays 12:30pm. PM if he wants an appointment or wants to know prices of specific procedures.
There are a couple of free clinics. Park Plaza (run by Red Cross) in Norfolk, Chesapeake Care, CrossOver Ministry in Richmond, New River Valley in Christiansburg.
A lot of private practitioners and dental students also provide free dental care at Missions of Mercy (volunteer projects) all over VA. The next one is in October in Grundy, VA. He MIGHT get ONE root canal here if he is very lucky. People line up outside all night to get into these.
For the most part, the free clinics and missions only offer extractions, fillings, and cleanings. Good luck.

Dag Zapatero, D.D.S. at Starfish Dental off shore drive by the lesner bridge.
http://www.dagzapatero-dds.com Been going there practically all my life, and while my teeth are fine, everyone else i've ever recommended to go there for problems (root canals, crowns, bleaching, etc) has come back raving about the performance and service. love the flat screens hanging on the ceiling for viewing, too.

Do NOT go to Dr. Samaha.
Someone I know recently went there, and tried to work there or something, said it's a BIG scam. They sell the hell out of you, and charge you nearly 3-5 k more...most ins. do not accept after they get the bill or some crap.
