cheapest place to do an rb25 swap?
If you are gonna pay that much.. you better get the RB26DETT.. not the RB25DET... dont get me wrong... you can get a little something out of the RB25 if you stroke it.. but other than that.. you will be a little hard pressed to get the right parts to get a killer motor... the RB26 is gonna have alot more parts readily available because everybody thinks that motor is a GOD motor. Just a thought... and to be perfectly honest.. if you are looking for cheap?!? then you need to get your mind of the RB swap and move to something like an SR swap or a built KA.. something that you wont be paying an arm and a leg for parts later down the road.
+1 paying someone to do a swap isn't cheap. There are a shit ton of little things you have to keep track of and pay for that most people don't factor in. I've been trying to factor it in for my swap, but we'll see what happens when it goes down. MRD is a good shop btw, they'll take care of you.

well. I dont really know for positive.. but I do know that that is a much more common swap that is performed.. so the price tag on it.. is gonna be smaller for 2 reasons. 1.. the more something is done the more people are gonna know how to do it. So.. they will have a price that competes... and 2.. the clips are alot cheaper for the SR's than for the RB's... But to be perfectly honest with you.. I would really go out and say that you should build the stock KA24... from what I understand... it is a much better platform.. and you can have yours built for about the same price you would pay for the SR front clip maybe a little more.. then you are looking at a turbo kit... and putting down alot better numbers... Honestly.. I dont think you should be too hasty in your decision making... let it mellow out.. do some price checking.. used parts.. new parts... blah blah blah.. You have to take into consideration that the JDM motors that you are getting.. some have been sitting for a very long time and that is not always good for a motor.. if you have one built.. then you know it has 0 miles on it.. and you know exactly how it has been driven. Plus you can ask around and get a nice set up.. I have seen some nasty 240's putting down well into the 400hp range with a built KA motor. If I had to suggest anything I would say that the most bang for your buck in the long run would be to build the KA24.. It may cost you a little more and a SR swap.. but you will have a built KA24 instead of a stock SR20. Just food for thought.
