ls_pwr: just to let you know, like dude said earlier, the army and marines have higher physical standards. also, the army's own standards are in the process of being raised, to a complete new regimen of training, isolating certain groups of muscles in your body. thats only for the 9 week guys. being in armor, means you go through 16 full weeks of basic training. because of the conditions we fight in, we are required to do twice the load many other MOS's do. Heavier rucksacks, road marches twice as long, not only that, but its at knox, which consists of heartbreak, and a few other select hills. heartbreak is farther down the road, near the grenade ranges. the ones before it make it complete hell. anyway, our AIT, is really everyday. but instead of a classroom, we do straight hands on training, involving our weapons, battlefield maneuvers, working maintenance on the tanks. we not only do one section of night maneuvers, but three. Armor physical standards are suggestively higher than most others. it is primarily because when deployed, we will not be on base for a very long time. as you saw during the Iraq conflict, the days it took to reach baghdad by tank. this is a normal thing, that expands into weeks at a time. when deployed, we are constantly on the move. each sable round weighs 40 lbs., and being a loader can be a very nasty job. the driver sits in his own little space. yes the chair is comfortable, but the space is very cramped, and there is basically no room to move. have you ever sat in the M1? its not fun and games. to most of the military, Tankers are known to be crazy suicidal people, because in their eyes, you have to be crazy to sit in there and get shot at. what they dont realize is that there are very few select weapons that can disable us. what tops it all off, is the extreme environments that these tanks are put in. basically, the middle of fuckin nowhere. we get the worst spots on earth. once you go through what i have, and seen just what it takes, you might see where i'm coming from. so in case your wondering, this is why the majority of us are assholes. be in my shoes: to sit there, and talk to a person who will be behind a desk, and never really set foot outside the gates, yet earn the same, if not more money, it really hurts. and dont think one second that any idiot can operate an M1. it takes skill. ALOT. you can just drive. you can just fire the cannon. you can just ride through town with no worries. you cant just fill it up with gas. JP4 is a jet fuel, because the M1 uses a gas turbine engine, similiar to a jet engine. one fuck up while refueling will send your ass to the gates of st. peter before you can get your finger out yer asshole. whoever thinks this job is easy, find out more info. then do the 16 weeks. cause while you 9ers are graduating from BCT, we're still pushin the ground back down, and shoutin out cadence. FUCK being an officer, i work for a living.

i'm sorry if i have alot to say. i cant summarize it into a bubble-pop paragraph, like the internet has been teaching people to do. i would rather be old fashioned, and make my point nice and clear, so that it is not subject to someone misunderstanding. buh bye.

::BREATHE:: SHEW...alll better...are we all done with all this bullshit cause i smell jealousy... i think your just upset that the ppl that dont work half as hard get paid twice as much as you...i think we're just smart and choose something thats less demanding (not saying my job is cause air traffic control is one of the most stressful jobs in the us). And please, so help me god, dont reply with a fucking novel. Its a waste of time. Quit being so gaddamn serious and enjoy what today brings.

i didnt know intelligence was measured by a paycheck. jealousy is not in my demeanor. your assumptions are so abstract, it fails to bring the point home to you. and the "Quit being so gaddamn serious and enjoy what today brings", better exit your head immediately, if you want to survive the first day in whatever basic training you take. fair warning. just let me know how much higher you hold your nose to people once you finish. cause that seems to be a prerequisite to graduate air force basic training on your 21 speed mountain bike.
