I was just wondering if anyone else was a designer there. Or if you are down in the yard. If so post department and dept name.

I'm working on the Carl Vinson also. My company is doing the sandblasting and painting of the hull and tanks. Mid Atlantic coatings.

No, but I work down at Norfolk Naval. We're trying to get the 75 out of drydock right now.. If you're doing coatings, please don't let the epoxy mixing machine screw up.. the coating will peel right off the bulkhead when water is put on it. Ask earl industries about it

For some reason that scares the hell out of me.

I almost went there as a Shift Test Engineer. Didn't want 12 hour shift work......pay was okay.

No reason to be scared. STE's do not work 12 hour shifts every day of every week for eternity....only during serious key event testing.

It does not matter where you work. Eventually some OT will be needed, and who knows, if ya get paid OT it's not that bad.
