I just filled out my application for the Norfolk Fire Department. Just wondering how long it usually takes to recieve a phone call and go through training and what not?

 

yeah I fight fires, I stand in front of my candle and when I want to put it out I punch it.

 

if the Fire Department works in a similar fashion to the Police Department than it's going to take a few weeks. You'll more than likely recieve information in the mail concerning the status of the application. If you have made it to the next tier of training the instructions will be in the paper work, if not than the letter will be one of those polite let downs.

 

the way norfolk is hurting for people right now, if you pass the test. as soon as they have the ability to open up an academy, youll probably get a call, or a letter with an offer from them as a recruit.they will let you know that if you successfully make it through the academy and pass the ems portion of the classes than you will make x amount of money after completion and some other bs. Then theyll probably setup a date for all your pre academy screenings. Drug test, Polygraph, psych evaluation, chiefs exam. if you get the nod from the chiefs exam youll start the academy and on you go. I hope you are interested in running ems, cause youll be doing it alot in norfolk.

 

Hey Jeremy, I don't know if norfolk is hiring but I saw a sign around P-town yesterday that said they are looking for firefighters. Idk if your willing to make that drive though.

Norfolk will take a month or two...depends when the next Academy is

 

filled out the app online. now i guess i just wait for the call.
