Dude, you're getting a S13 for free? I wouldn't worry about the taillights, there's plenty of things you can do to change those. As far as a SX having options for modifying, go to the right places(links listed above) and you will be surprised to say the least. Have fun and enjoy the car

 

i didn't find too much use from 240sx.org. it's a good start though, directions on 300zx breaks is usefull. doesn't look like it's been updated for a long time (haven't visited lately). There are plenty of options for your 240. Parts are gonna be more expensive than say, those 20billion $15 strut braces and air intakes civic owners can get from Pep Boys.
Check out http://www.nismoparts.com They have all kinds of upgrades for engine, suspension, etc. and the 180sx tails for the cheapest i've found, and it's all new OEM parts. (if you have a hatch) Alteza's. let the civic babies keep 'em.

The September '03 issue of Super Street has a pretty good Buyer's Guide. I think an Issue of Sport Compact Car had a guide as well around the same time.

All else fails, search ebay. try "silvia" "180sx" and "sr20det" to find to most parts.... be prepared for a lot of freagin shift knobs though... haha

 

between japan and the us market, there are a shit load. us market not much in comparison. but japan, there is shit you will never even know that's out there. too much shit if yuo ask me. haha jk. but thre are a shit load of stuff.
