does anyone know someone in the tidewater area that restores these mustangs for a living?

I hope you have A LOT of money if you're planning on having something professional restored. I don't know of anyone that does this either.

It depends on what you need restored.

Anyway you slice it, though for everything but the paint, I HIGHLY recommend Rick's Car Care.

Actually, Yea, In Gloucester, There's a guy Named Rick...
R & M used tires is the company...phone number is here: 804-642-3713

...He's pretty sweet at restorations...
He only does muscle cars, and they are amazing. Absolutely outstanding paint too.....
So if you end up taking Blaxican's suggestion, and just need paint, he's 100% the man for paint, at least, for SURE!

What all do you want done? A complete stock restoration, or is the car modified?

Jessee's Rod Shop- next to the Ford Plant in Norfolk. Awesome work but a little expensive

To be honest, you can probably do everything yourself. Latemodel Restoration Supply and Fox Mustang Restoration can probably provide you with 90% of the parts. For bodywork you can pick up a rust free 4 cyl parts car (if your body is rusty) for $1000 at most.

thanks for all the replies. the car will be a stock restoration for the most part. i may go for a few mods i suppose. i have already succumbed to the fact that it will be an expensive process. the car is in pretty good shape body and rust wise. it is just a little worn with stuff beginning to fail. but like i said it is a blast and probably worth it to me having it restored. my other choice is to buy a 1968 shelby

Where are you located? Vitale Motorsports in Gloucester can handle everything from body work, to performance mods, to restoration. Their # is 757-813-5031
