Please read and attend!!!!!!
Wow...that sucks, I hope this doesn't happen. I'm going to try and make it out there but I don't know if I will be able to since its a weekday. This will make a lot of people angry if this happens.
Good luck? Thats it? Not to be a wise ass but if you still own the V8 swapped import you might wanna actually attend rather than wishing everyone "good luck".
We've had it relatively easy in SW VA so far but be VERY aware that when more strict emissions laws get passed there are gonna be a LOT of ppl making payments on cars they cant drive because they wont pass inspection.
Personally I really dont want uncle sam or the even bigger burocratic idiots of roanoke looking under my hood and deciding what I can and cant do with MY cars.....and you guys with older and/or domestic cars better listen up too. If the emissions testing is implemented here then good luck finding a place to put a sticker on your car if it even has so much as a chrome open element air cleaner. It may have came stock on your 1969 whatever but are you really gonna convince the knuckle head at the emissions station that wouldnt know a blower belt from a muffler bearing it was actually stock when the car was new? 99% of them couldnt find their ass with both hands and map so theyre gonna be really familiar with the details of your numbers matching 1 of 10 built muscle cars
.
Same goes for you late model guys be you import or domestic.....that CIA you put on...illegal unless its got a CARB/EPA tag (assuming that VA will accept CARBs criteria to begin with...big assumtion there). You like that blower/rear mount turbo on your F body/mustang? Better enjoy it now if get get emissions tests around here since it will be good for nothing but a really expensive paper weight.
Dont take my word for it just ask those guys in NOVA how much they look forward to getting their cars smogged/inspected.

Damn that really sucks that VA is doing this. I am from northern VA, but have lived down here for about 5 years, and emissions back home is horrible. My brothers have a built turboed car and a built NA car and they have to be registered in West VA. This emisions shit is out of control.

I live over an hour away. That sucks, but I am not driving an hour 2 ways to be there.
Listen ppl I dont wanna sound like chicken little here by yelling that the sky is falling but us car guys are a minority and REALLY easy to push around by burocrats, law enforcement, tree hugging soccer moms, etc who dont have a clue about us or our hobby. These burocrats that will possibly be making these dicisions consider us an easy target to pass laws against to make themselves appear like do gooders to the rest of the voting John Q Public. If we show them that there are more than a hand full of us then theyll at least think twice about ticking off a bunch of potential voters. As it stands they are gonna listen to whoever and do whatever they think it will take to get themselves elected again. If no one show up then to them we dont exist and theyll listen to some other group of cabbage heads that preach how much our hobby is the death of everthing from the rain forest to bambi and we shouldnt be allowed to even open the hood of our cars.
Im not 5 minutes down the road from the meeting place either but Im going to make the 30 minute drive and show up and possibly say my piece. Anyone who doesnt shouldnt even think about starting a thread later on like "where can I go to get a sticker?" or "WTF!..I only have a cat back system but my car wont pass inspection!".
If you do however find an address we can e-mail, I am sure you could get a huge response. I do not even know who to contact to voice my opinion. Since I go to school and work full-time, even though I love cars, they are at the bottom of my to-do list.
